NWSOFA Fiscal and Economic Issue Team May Meeting

Our May Fiscal and Economic Issues meeting will be Tuesday, May 15th at the Schaumburg Township Library starting at 7 pm. We will have our normal update of federal budget and economic data, including the April 2018 jobs data and the first estimate of 1st quarter 2018 GDP growth. Attached is a copy of David’s presentation from April, which will be updated for our May presentation.
In addition, we will have another dive into Illinois fiscal and economic issues, as Illinois’ budget is due May 31st. Attached is my presentation from our March meeting. We will present a recent history of the Illinois economic and fiscal situation, as well as discuss some recommendations for next year’s (FY 2019) budget. We will also give a status on the current budget negotiations to the extent they are known. This spring promises to be another contentious one in the legislature regarding budget negotiation.
I look forward to seeing a good group on Tuesday, May 15th. Bring your comments, questions and ideas for a lively discussion.
After the meeting we will head over about 9:30 pm to Lou Malnati’s for beer, food and further discussions. While NWSOFA is not political, political discussions are allowed at Lou’s.

While we attempted to show the PowerPoint presentation onscreen, and improved this a couple of times during the presentation, I recommend loading it separately (attached file or line 4 above) so it is easier to read. Use a large window for PowerPoint on your computer and a smaller window to listen to the discussion and see which PowerPoint slide we are discussing.
