It’s hard to make property assessments sexy. But if we are serious about addressing equity issues, we need to talk about property assessments, and the structural iniquities that have been built into the assessments–and how the current Board of (Tax) Appeals is still protecting those iniquities.

We all like talking about addressing structural racism and iniquity–but the real work of funding progressive government happens with the tax assessments.
