Our next Fiscal and Economic Issues meeting will be back in Schaumburg on October 21 at 7 p.m. at the Schaumburg Public Library conference room.  Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

Fiscal year (FY) 2019 ends on September 30th. If Congress doesn’t pass (and President Trump doesn’t sign) appropriations bills for FY 2020 by then (or at least continuing resolutions), we face another partial government shutdown. We will discuss the status of these appropriations bills at our October meeting and any actions we want to take to influence these bills.

We will also discuss the fiscal and economic numbers, e.g. job growth, real GDP growth, inflation, FY 2019 budget deficit, etc. . The 11 month deficit through August was over $1 trillion, but we expect it to come down a little in September as quarterly tax payments are due.  We should have the reported numbers for FY 2019 ending 9/30 by the meeting date.
