NWSOFA Indivisible December Fiscal and Economic Issues Meeting

NWSOFA’s Fiscal and Economic Issues group will meet at the Schaumburg Library on Thursday, December 12th at 7 p.m. We will update on the economy with the November employment report, the second estimate of 3rd quarter real GDP growth, and selected other info, including status of trade negotiations with China. We will also update on the status of FY 2020 appropriations, currently operating under a Continuing Resolution that expires December 20th. A major sticking point on negotiations is funding for Trump’s border wall. Last year border wall funding led to a partial government shutdown that began on December 22nd and lasted until January 25th. Let’s hope we don’t repeat that this year. ———– We had a good presentation in November by Ralph Martire of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability on Illinois’ budget and pension issues, including a discussion of the fair Tax proposal.
