NWSOFA GVP Partner Event: Tell District 15: No Guns in Schools!

This is a reminder that the next District 15 Board of Education meeting is this coming Wednesday, February 13, 2019, and we are looking for volunteers to attend. District 15 is considering hiring armed, retired police officers as support staff for each of its elementary schools.  A community-based group, #D15 Vision for Safety, was formed last November to work against this plan to bring loaded guns into our schools, and our NWSOFA Gun Violence Prevention team is supporting this group. . The Board of Education meetings are open to the public, not just District 15 residents.

Please wear a red shirt to show support. Someone (wearing a red shirt!) will be handing out “No Guns in Schools” buttons in the lobby. We will try to sit together in a very noticeable, colorful group to show our opposition to guns in schools. At least one of our members is planning to speak during the public comment segment of the meeting, and we definitely want to show our support.
