“Ripples of Plastic” Screening

w/Mark Lundholm, NWSOFA Climate & Environmental lead

Join Us for an EYE-OPENING Evening: Ripples of Plastic Screening and Discussion

The NWSOFA-Indivisible Climate Change team invites you to a special screening of Ripples of Plastic, an eye-opening documentary by filmmaker Chris Langer of Wonderhouse Films. This powerful film explores the devastating impact of plastic pollution in the Great Lakes, shedding light on microplastics’ effects on ecosystems and human health. Chris Langer, a Northeast Ohio native and first-time documentarian, brings together experts and advocates to inspire collective action toward a plastic-free future.

Q&A session following

Following the screening, Mark Lundholm, our NWSOFA-Indivisible Climate Change Lead, will be leading the Q&A session following the screening of Ripples of Plastic. With his extensive background in environmental advocacy and leadership within the organization, Mark is well-equipped to facilitate an insightful discussion about the film and its implications on climate action.

This is a unique opportunity to discuss the film’s themes, learn about actionable solutions, and connect with others passionate about combating plastic pollution.

Looking forward to seeing you there!.

“Local Palatine IL Candidates Forum:

to Get Out the Vote + IL GVP Update

Upcoming Local Event: Supporting Our Community

_This Thursday, we are hosting a unique local event that diverges from our typical Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) meetings. Instead, we will be focusing on supporting local candidates who are crucial to our community’s future_

We have invited 2 or 3 local candidates, in the Greater Palatine, IL area, to join us and share their visions for our area. This event is an important step in getting out the vote and ensuring that our voices are heard in local elections.

Agenda Highlights:

– Candidate Presentations: Our guest candidates will discuss their platforms and goals, providing insight into how they plan to address local issues.

– GVP Bills Discussion: If time allows, we will also touch on the GVP bills likely to be introduced in the Illinois legislature this session.

However, the primary focus will be on supporting our local candidates and encouraging community engagement.

Why This Matters

While this event differs from our usual GVP meetings, it is essential for mobilizing support and getting out the vote. By engaging with local candidates and understanding their positions, we can make informed decisions at the polls. We are reaching out to our candidate speakers to confirm their attendance and look forward to a productive and engaging meeting. Your participation is vital in shaping our community’s future, so please join us on Thursday!
