Social Message AMPLIFICATION Is KEY

January 9th ZOOM Meeting – at 7pm Central

Join Us for a Learning Evening this next Tuesday (1/09/24) @ 7PM! Central on zoom

Thank you for all you do to keep this crazy political world turning. I listen to too many news reports on radio and TV. This AM I got a heavy dose of how AI and just the prevalence of social media, dishonest ads, and alternative facts will be flying more than ever this year as elections are drawing near.

Michelle and Kathy, your co-hosts, will be sharing a new organization and mission…

“Citizens for Ethical Campaigns”

which has been formed to elevate the level of ethical behavior and truthfulness in political campaigns in Illinois. We invite you to find out more.

In fact, many political campaign communications are filled with disinformation. Irrelevant, misleading, dishonest, and hateful campaign communications are becoming commonplace, and this is dangerous to our democracy. We—as voters—can help reverse this trend and demand truth in politics.

MESSAGE AMPLIFICATION IS THE KEY

Also NWSOFA’S Co-Lead, Bill Davis, will be sharing the importance of social media messaging and Social Media Storming in this year’s campaigning and election- how we can be effective with it. Turning one message… it’s easy!… post our messages on any social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Tik Tok etc.)… amplified to 100’s and thousands.

On the near horizon… NWSOFA-Indivisible “BOOK CLUB”

Monday, January 8th Noon Zoom

One Aim Illinois, in collaboration with the Violence Policy Center

“Gun Death in Illinois.”

This session aims to shed light on the harrowing impact of gun violence, underscored by the difficult statistic that nearly 2,000 lives were lost to this epidemic in 2021.

Cook County Commissioner Monica Gordon of the Fifth District. Commissioner Gordon has been a passionate and unwavering advocate for gun violence prevention. Her commitment is exemplified by her initiative to launch the Inaugural Violence Prevention Advisory Council, which aims to tackle this crisis from every conceivable angle. Commissioner Gordon envisions a holistic approach to violence prevention, deeming it the paramount challenge for Cook County’s residents. With over 1,000 victims of gun violence last year alone and its distinction as the leading cause of death for individuals under 25, the Commissioner’s focus is both timely and urgent.

During the session, you’ll gain insights from experts like Josh Sugarmann and Terra Wiens, MPH, who will navigate us through federal data and narratives from our Survivors Council. This analysis goes beyond numbers; it’s a narrative about real people and our shared resolve for action.
