Take Action Today!

Urge your State Senator to support Karina’s Bill today!

Monday is a critical Days of Action for communities fighting gun violence and gender-based violence to support SB2633, or Karina’s Bill.

Named for a survivor who was shot by her husband after she turned to the legal system for help, Karina’s Bill will clarify and strengthen the law to require that a firearm be removed from a home when a domestic violence survivor is granted an order of protection. It also closes loopholes that allow gun possession without removing the gun itself.

Karina’s tragedy is not an isolated incident: A woman is five times more likely to be murdered when her abuser has access to a firearm, and on October 22, 2023, Adrianna Lopez was shot and killed after filing an order of protection against her ex-boyfriend.

Survivors of domestic violence can’t wait any longer. Call your State Senator now to tell them to support SB2633, Karina’s Bill, and call the bill for a vote!

CALL TO ACTION! Kentucky’s Democratic Governor Andy Beshear is running for re-election. Election day is Tues. Nov.7. Kentucky is a very red state. And Governor Beshear is the firewall preventing the very Republican legislature from passing severely regressive laws.

Just recently, the Kentucky Democratic party reached out to Indivisible Illinois for help to GOTV. It is a tight race. To help with this campaign, Indivisible Illinois will be hosting a Zoom phone bank parties, Tues, Nov.7 1:30-3 pm.
