Please help with the Clean Jobs Bill-so close to bipartisan passage!
Two weeks ago a number of Sierra Club members and friends (including NWSOFA) participated in the Clean Jobs Bill Rally in Springfield. There is a high level of bipartisan enthusiasm for this Bill–State Senators just went over the 50% mark and the house is in the mid 50%. This means that if this Bill were voted on, it would pass.
However, the Governor still has not made his position public. So we still have work to do: make the Bill support veto-proof.
We are now tasked with trying to move the needle to sponsorship on one particular legislator in Northwest Cook County: Representative
Fred Crespo (44th District: Hoffman Estates). He has not yet sponsored the Bill, but we think with positive feedback from his constituency that he may support it.
Sierra Club members and friends will be asking people to sign a petition or send in a post card in support of the Clean Jobs Bill. We are therefore planning a door-to-door campaign in Rep. Crespo’sdistrict.
Would you be willing to help us do this canvassing?
