On June 2nd, the White House announced the first ever national limits on carbon pollution from existing power plants!

On June 2nd, the White House will announce the first ever national limits on carbon pollution from existing power plants. This is big news for protecting our planet from climate disruption. And we were there… over 200 folks … Standing Room only.. to hear those that hold Climate Change as one of our key social issues speak on the need to be “Clean”.
The Sierra Club, OFA and other organizations hosted this flagship event at the Spertus Institute in Chicago. All that were there plus the media celebrated this historic moment with a press conference. We were joined by local media outlets, and hear from VIP speakers including US Representative Robin Kelly and Lisa Madigan.

An Update from our ACA Team:

Obama Keeps Foot On The Gas For Health Care Enrollment

Many of our Team have taken their OFA hats off and continue the very special work on implementing the ACA Law.

“To coordinate the on-the-ground component, the administration has been participating in biweekly meetings with health care reform groups. One of them, Enroll America, currently has more than 230 staffers across the country, which is just slightly below the 250 it employed at the end of open enrollment. The group has maintained a robust volunteer presence as well. For a Weekend of Action planned for the end of June, the group has registered more than 1,000 volunteer shifts and scheduled just under 400 events. They had averaged the same number of events during weekends in March with about twice as many volunteers.”

“There are two reasons Enroll America hasn’t wound down more during the special enrollment period, said the group’s president, Anne Filipic: to avoid having to train new officials when the next open enrollment period starts, and because it sees ample opportunity to run up the number of insured people in the meantime.”

It’s time to Act .. It Is Time To Get Involved
Over the years the American Citizens have lost their voices, believing that we can not make a difference.  We have been beat down by the constant droning noise of the conservative right. This onslaught has made us like sheep .. afraid to express our views.  Not anymore!  OFA gives us back our voices and by working together we are making change one issue at a time. Together we can and will make a difference.

Thank You to our NWSOFA Issue Leads in 2013 !!
