Stand With Women
Team Meeting

Tuesday, April 29

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Conference Room “I”

Arlington Heights Memorial Library
500 N. Dunton Ave
Arlington Heights, IL

You’re invited to our Stand with Women monthly meeting. We’ll be exploring ways we can highlight issues that are unique to women but impact everyone. Bring your concerns and creativity for what is always an inspiring evening.

We have been very pleased with the crucial benefits ACA has guaranteed women such as non-discriminatory rates for insurance, free preventive care and reproductive health care, no more exclusion from pre-existing conditions and much more.

Now our national focus is on economic issues including equal pay, raising the minimum wage, family leave, affordable child care. Bring your concerns and creativity and your friends for what is always an inspiring evening.

Join the Immigration Reform CIR Dream Team as we expand our efforts in the North West Suburbs. Organization, goals, and action plans will be discussed from 6:30- 7:30 pm .

The team will make select calls to others in the Northwest Suburbs with the purpose of expanding the team. Our calls will be placed to the Northwest Suburbs to create action on the goals and action plans developed at the CIR National Day Of Action in February.

It’s Working…. We are changing the way Illinois politicians are looking at Immigration through our ACTIONS:

4-22-14: Former and current Illinois Republican politicians advocated for comprehensive immigration reform Tuesday in an apparent departure from national House Republicans’ strategy of piecemeal reform.

4-22-14 Two House Republicans from Illinois are endorsing some sort of legal status for immigrants in the country illegally, adding renewed GOP support for immigration reform efforts that have come to a standstill on Capitol Hill. (these are House Republicans we have targeted)

Come join us to get folks involved in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Movement.

About NWSOFA

NWSOFA is a whole, diverse wonderful family of people who want to do more than talk about the social issues. We explore and dig deep on the facts and decide what actions we can take that can have an impact locally and nationally. NWSOFA members not only “talk the talk”, but we “walk the walk”.

All our teams have numerous events that will enlighten and inspire you and yes, challenge you to make the effort to make a difference.

We invite you to join us!

NWSOFA VOLUNTEER SHOUT-OUT

Meet Joe Salvato, the NWSOFA Chapter Climate Change Lead.
He has been working on the Climate Change issue since shortly after the 2012 election and is an Al Gore Climate Reality Leader.
Joe has devoted his time and energy to making a difference, educating the public about Municipal Power Aggregation and renewable energy sources, and is working to renew a Production Tax Credit for wind power companies to continue creating jobs.
Joe Salvato most recently organized a delegation to meet with the staff of Rep. Peter Roskam where they presented the recently released IPCC report and began a positive discussion with the Congressman’s staff. Their delegation was invited back, later this month, to continue this important dialogue when the IPCC releases the second part of their report identifying remedies.

It’s time to Act .. It Is Time To Get Involved
Over the years the American Citizens have lost their voices, believing that we can not make a difference.  We have been beat down by the constant droning noise of the conservative right. This onslaught has made us like sheep .. afraid to express our views.  Not anymore!  OFA gives us back our voices and by working together we are making change one issue at a time. Together we can and will make a difference.

Thank You to our NWSOFA Issue Leads in 2013 !!
