Type of event: Candidate Forum. Four people are running to be the Democratic nominee for Secretary of State: Alexi Giannoulias, the former state treasurer during the Blagojevich years; Anna Valencia, current City Clerk of Chicago; Chicago Ald. Pat Dowell; and Chicago Ald. David Moore. The Hon. Jesse White is the longest-serving SOS as well as the first Black to hold the post.. He is leaving big shoes to fill. This event is co-sponsored by Elk Grove Township Democrats, Barrington Township Democrats, Wheeling Township Democrats.
