NWSOFA/Indivisible Illinois Social Justice Alliance is partnering with Moms Demand Action and Newtown Action Alliance to present a virtual event, “Help Break the Cycle of Violence,” on Zoom at 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

What can be done to stop gun violence? If you have ever asked yourself that question then we hope you will join us – NWSOFA/Indivisible Illinois Social Justice Alliance, Moms Demand Action and Newtown Action Alliance – and our panel of outstanding speakers, including our featured speaker, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, on Zoom at 7:00 pm, Sunday, October 3, 2021, when we present “Help Break the Cycle of Violence: Gun Violence, Gun Suicide and Domestic Violence.”

This virtual event will focus on the gun violence connections between gun suicide and domestic violence, raise awareness of the warning signs of suicide and domestic violence and help create an understanding of the complexity of the root causes of gun violence.

And it will serve as a call to action for individuals to get personally involved in helping to break the cycle of violence by working to create communities that are, according to Senator Durbin’s Chicago HEAL Initiative, “safer, healthier and more prosperous” for everyone.

As you may already know, September is National Suicide Prevention Month and October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. So, we invite you to gather with us on Zoom at 7:00 pm on October 3rd to learn what each of us can do to start a conversation and take action to bring hope and healing into this world.

We will take a look at what already is being done in our communities and our speakers will offer resources and tools so each of us can begin a conversation within our own family, neighborhood, workplace and beyond and break the silence that fills the space when it comes to talking about gun violence, gun suicide and domestic violence.

And you can begin to take action today by adding these two numbers to your phone, just like many of us have done, and then by sharing them:

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255

National Domestic Abuse Hotline: 1-800-799-7233

We are looking forward to seeing you on Zoom at 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 3, 2021. Thank you!
