Chris will present the What Healthcare Reform Means to the US. She has conducted educational events .. past, present and future.

Maria Perez – Immigration

 NWSOFA CIR (Comprehensive Immigration Reform) Lead 

 Maria is extremely knowledgeable Immigration Reform Lead.

Maria and her children are living the life of a separated immigrant family. 

She has been a tireless speaker at Rallies, on TV and appeared before the Congressional Briefing on American Families in deportation, 

and Maria and her daughter even appeared before the GOP Conference on Immigration Reform in Chicago in April.  

Maria also was one of the principal speaker at the OFA-IL CIR Rally on 6/28 as covered by WGN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS and UniVision.

 

Joe Salvato – Climate

& OFA-IL Sierra Club Liaison

 

Joe had completed the Al Gore Climate Reality Project Training.  
As a world Traveler he has seen many of the impacts of Climate Change on the World. Joe Serves as the OFA-Illinois Sierra Club Liaison and has connected OFA and NWSOFA with many groups in Illinois and nationally that work tirelessly to save our planet from ourselves.  Joe has a meeting coming up on Thursday night on “Thorium, Molten Salt Reactors, and Green Energy”. 

  

Cathy Risberg – Gun Violence Prevention

NWSOFA Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) Lead

Cathy is one of the three NWSOFA GVP Co-Leads along with Nattalie Warren and Linda Waycie.  Cathy has worked hard to bring awareness to the Northwest Suburbs of the new Illinois Concealed Carry Law and what it means to home owners, renters, and where we can safely shop, eat, play and worship.  Cathy has been a leading force in tying NWSOFA GVP closer with Mom’s Demand Action and Bloomberg’s Every Town for Gun Safety.  
Last week several of her team along with MDA presented over 1,000 postcards saying “not one More: to Congressman’s Peter Roskam’s DuPage office.
 
 
Karl Faulstich – Fiscal

NWSOFA Fiscal Issues Lead
 
Karl’s and Helen’s Fiscal and Economic team received the OFA Illinois top “Gold Clipboard” award for Increasing awareness on Fiscal issues that serve as clear indicators for the economic prosperity of the country.  His monthly presentation to the Fiscal Issues Discussion Group include “deep dives” on such diverse information jobs report, trends, employment ratios derived from the BLS and trending US & IL. deficit and debt information from the CBO (Congressional Budget Office). 
He is the man with the numbers we all rely on.
Hen Tan – Economic

NWSOFA Economic Lead
 
Helen’s and Karl’s Fiscal and Economic team received the OFA Illinois top “Gold Clipboard” award for Increasing awareness on Fiscal & Economic issues.  She delights the group with her ability to analyze timely data on ACA costs, the impact on the economy of a Minimum Wage increase among other topics.  
She is at the leading edge of providing information to the group in the form of viewing of the Robert Reich’s movie “Inequality for All”  to a packed house and is preparing to do a viewing of “Citizen Koch”
 
 
Sara Horan – Women’s Rights

NWSOFA Women’s Rights Lead (Stand With Women)
 

 Sara is NWSOFA Chapter Co-Lead and while organizing and driving one of OFA’s top Chapters forward she devotes countless hours to developing an awareness on “Standing with Women, (SWS)”.  The teams current focus in on increasing Minimum Wage.

Sara notes “Close to 500,000 signatures have been collected and we need to let Congress know raising the Minimum Wage is good for women and all families and good for the economy”
