Indivisible IL – Defending Democracy in the Redistricting Arms Race Virtual Panel

Join Indivisible Illinois on Tuesday, August 26th at 7:30pm CST for a compelling virtual panel discussion as we explore how states like Illinois and California can prepare to push back against a nationwide push led by Trump and MAGA Republicans to exploit gerrymandering and undermine democratic representation.

Panelists:

Gene Wu – Minority Leader Texas House of Representatives

Cristina Castro – Majority Caucus Whip Illinois State Senate

Laura Murphy – Assistant Majority Leader Illinois State Senate

This virtual panel goes beyond theory; it’s about proactive defense of electoral integrity. Whether you are an organizer, concerned voter, or policy advocate, this discussion will equip you with deeper insight into how blue states can uphold democracy and resist the partisan overhaul of electoral maps.

Hear firsthand from Illinois state legislators and political insiders who were directly involved in Illinois’s recent redistricting cycle on how principles of fairness and federal law shaped their strategies.

Democracy rests on fair representation. Let’s examine what states like California and Illinois can do collectively and creatively to counter authoritarian gerrymandering and protect every vote.
