Feeling overwhelmed by the constant stream of ideas, strategies,

and information in the pro-democracy movement?

You’re not alone

Sorting Soup: Turning Ideas Into Action – Join Weekly – every Tuesday & Thursday, Zoom @4PM central

That’s why we created Sorting Soup—a twice-weekly space to process, connect, and turn information into real-world impact. Inspired by the dynamic NWSOFA 9am Coffee & Conversation network, Sorting Soup is your opportunity to ground yourself, build community, and decide what’s truly worth your time and energy.

Each session begins with a Decompression Hour

Join us every Tuesday and Thursday at 4 PM (CST), starting June 10th. Each session begins with a Decompression Hour, where we check in, share what’s on our minds, and spot the patterns emerging across our work. Then, we dive deep into a timely topic—something urgent, overlooked, or full of potential. Whether you’re ready to research, present, or just ask great questions, your voice is welcome.

We wrap up with a Deep Dive Debrief, assigning research tasks, brainstorming future speakers, and mapping out next steps. Our goal? Not just understanding, but activation. Sorting Soup is about thinking together—and then bringing those insights back to our communities to inspire real change.

Bring your curiosity, your questions, and your passion for democracy. Let’s turn information overload into collective action—one session at a time.

“NWSOFA Zoom “Hands On / How To” Sessions Update

NEXT STEPS

step-by-step guidance on working with Zoom

NWSOFA is excited to announce a new focus for our popular “Hands On / How To” basics instruction sessions! By member request, we are shifting from covering AI basics to providing practical, step-by-step guidance on running Zoom meetings. Whether you’re new to Zoom or looking to sharpen your skills, these sessions are designed to help you confidently host, control, and engage attendees in your own virtual meetings.

Our **Wednesday at NOON PM** and **Thursday at 2 PM** sessions will now both cover the same Zoom-related topics. These sessions will remain conversational and informal, encouraging plenty of questions and interactive participation. As always, we’ll be sharing our screens and demonstrating each step in real time, so you can follow along and see exactly how to manage Zoom’s features.

_We’ll cover essential skills such as:_

– Scheduling a meeting

– Inviting participants

– Managing audio and video

– Using chat and reactions

– Sharing your screen

– Utilizing breakout rooms

We’ll also explore tips for keeping your meetings secure and engaging, including how to handle disruptive participants, use polls, and make the most of Zoom’s interactive tools.

Whether you’re hosting a small team meeting or a large community event, these sessions will give you the practical know-how to run smooth, effective Zoom gatherings. **Bring your questions and curiosity—our goal is to make sure you leave each session feeling ready to take charge of your own virtual meetings!**

You should be on a notebook or computer with Internet for this to be most effective.. will be difficult with a phone only..

From Indivisible / Urgent Actions needed:

– House Republicans just voted for a tax bill that does real harm to working Americans—slashing Medicaid, food assistance, and threatening Medicare to pay for massive tax breaks for billionaires. It’s a cruel, upside-down set of priorities that puts the ultra-wealthy first and working families last.

Indivisible is organizing phonebanks every Wednesday and Thursday in June.

– But this fight isn’t over yet. The Senate is up next and we have a plan to block this bill.

– We’re helping voters in key states call their senators and demand they reject this dangerous bill. We’ve used this tactic before—and it works. Back in 2017, grassroots pressure like this helped stop Republicans from dismantling the ACA.

– If we turn up the heat again, we can block this bill in the Senate—or force changes that send it back to the House, where it faces an even tougher path.

– Let’s remind Congress who they work for. Make some calls .. Starts June 4 /5th..
