Join “Vision Forward:

“Braver Angels workshop “Depolarizing Within”

Wednesday, January 7th @7PM central / 8pm PM Eastern – ZOOM

_HOST: Dr. Chris Welde NWSOFA Indivisible and the Vision Forward 2.0 Team .. As part of the NWSOFA “Vision Forward: Messaging our Pro-Democracy Vision” bridging series NWSOFA has partnered with Braver Angels of Central Texas to conduct its “Depolarizing Within” workshop for us._

In this interactive workshop, we’ll assess our individual perspectives and biases and learn how to speak with others without stereotyping, dismissing, ridiculing, or being contemptuous. We’ll practice skills to intervene in polarizing conversations in ways that will keep us from being ostracized and we’ll come away with tools to make conversations between differing viewpoints far more likely to be productive, successful, and sustainable.

The goals of the workshop include teaching participants:

– How to be more aware of our own “inner polarizer”

– How to be critical without demonizing, dismissing or stereotyping large swaths of the population

– Strategies for intervening constructively in social conversations with like-minded peers when these conversations veer into contempt and ridicule for people who hold other political views.

As Braver Angels of Central Texas advertises: “You’ll be rewarded with skills you can use immediately.”

Braver Angels is a U.S.-based nonprofit and grassroots movement focused on bridging the political divide and reducing polarization by bringing people from different ideological backgrounds together for respectful dialogue, workshops, debates, and community events. Its mission is to strengthen democratic culture by helping individuals understand one another beyond partisan stereotypes, engage civilly across differences, and find shared values—even while disagreeing on issues. It intentionally brings together conservatives (“Reds”) and liberals (“Blues”) in balanced, structured groups to engage in respectful dialogue, workshops, and debates. The goal is not to change people’s political views, but to build understanding, challenge stereotypes, and strengthen democratic culture by helping people disagree without dehumanizing one another.

Join “Sorting Soup”:

A Book Club for Resistance & Resilience

Randy Allen Walker’s Project 2025 Survival Guide

THURSDAYS @5pm & SUNDAYS @9 AM CT Zoom!

Sorting Soup has evolved into a space where we do more than just talk about the news—we read the blueprints, name the patterns, and build the knowledge we need to resist authoritarianism with clarity and purpose. We’re currently a dedicated book club diving deep into two essential guides for this moment: Randy Allen Walker’s Project 2025 Survival Guide,

Every Thursday at 5PM Central

Every Thursday at 5PM Central, we gather on Zoom to read aloud, process collectively, and connect the dots between policy, history, and our lived realities. Each session begins with a brief check-in where we see who’s in the room and what’s on our hearts, then we dive straight into the text—whether it’s dissecting a chapter of Project 2025’s attack on civil rights or learning tactical lessons from feline resistance strategies. We read together, we react honestly, and we make space for both grief and action.

Sunday Seconds: Go Deeper, Catch Up, or Just Breathe

Missed Thursday? Need more time with the material? Just want to process with a smaller, quieter group? That’s what Sunday Seconds is for. Every Sunday morning, we reconvene to revisit the previous week’s reading in greater depth. We slow down, pull out the quotes that hit hardest, highlight contributions from first-time speakers, and make space for the reflections that didn’t quite fit on Thursday night.

So grab your book, your coffee, and your courage—the soup’s on, and there’s always room for one more spoon in the pot. Let’s read, resist, and rise together.

Women and family issues

And there will be time to discuss what is on your mind and in your hearts on women and family issues during this difficult time of government shutdown and all that is affected by it, immigrants facing detention and its chaos and heartbreak on families.
