NWSOFA Indivisible Partner Event: Responsible Investing

Mike Wapner will present “Investing According to Your Values. Yes, you can do well by doing good!” This session will cover the finance industry’s evolution from SRI (Socially Responsible Investing) to ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Investing to Impact Investing. Mike will discuss the factors driving the growth of this field, introduce some of the organizations that are involved and their initiatives – such as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and describe some of the basic ways for investors to “put their money where their values are”. Session will be educational only, with no solicitation on particular investments.
Bio
Mike Wapner is a financial advisor with BlueLake Wealth Advisors. Mike has worked for organizations as diverse as Motorola, where he marketed wireless data and digital cellular networks, and a small energy efficiency nonprofit, where he was Director of Finance. He earned the US Green Building Council’s LEED Accredited Professional designation. Mike is currently a member of the City of Park Ridge’s Sustainability Task force and is on the Board of Park Ridge Friends of the Parks.
Mike earned his BS in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Mike has also earned the Certificate in Financial Planning from DePaul University.
